Orthotic Evaluations for People of All Ages

Before prescribing orthotics your podiatrist will perform a comprehensive assessment of your foot posture and a visual gait analysis. From this assessment, your podiatrist will determine if a foot orthotic will be of benefit you, and if so, determine which type of functional foot orthotics will be most suitable. Your foot-type, age, lifestyle, and budget will all be considered when prescribing the right orthotics for you. Orthotics don’t have to be expensive as there any many cheaper prefabricated supportive arches ($110-$170) that may suit you.

Footwear is also an important part of the orthotic fitting process as not all shoes will accommodate orthotics. Bring footwear to your appointment so we can determine whether your shoes will accommodate orthotic inserts.

Adjusting to Your Foot Orthotic

Orthotics are designed for optimal foot alignment correction but the first few days and weeks can be a big change for your body, it may take time to adjust. It is recommended that you wear-in your orthotic inserts slowly, at first using them for walking only and increasing wear an hour every day. If you experience new pain, or your existing pain feels worse, reach out to our team for orthotic adjustments.

How Orthotics Can Benefit You

These specially designed shoe inserts offer numerous benefits that go beyond foot comfort. Whether custom-made or prefabricated, there’s many benefits to wearing orthotics.

They help improve the way your feet move and ensure proper foot alignment, leading to better overall biomechanics, posture, and balance.

Custom orthotics can prevent the development of various foot problems and deformities, including stress fractures, tendonitis, and bunions.

By reducing pain and providing support, orthotic inserts enhance mobility and make physical activities more comfortable.

If you think you may need a foot orthotic or you’re interested in our other foot therapies and services, you can make an appointment at Treat the Feet Podiatry’s Brighton clinic online or by calling 9592 5502. We’ll give you the right advice to suit your specific needs.
